Loan will be required next year to meet the expenditure in England of the Crown Agents. No portion of the Loan will be required here. As the Crown Agents have not drawn on this Colony for their requirements, there is a balance in hand which amounted on 14th instant to $457,800; of which $250,000 has been deposited in local Banks bearing interest at 4.50.
The ordinary expenditure of 1857 has been estimated at $1,245,134, $93,052 in excess of the Estimates of the present year.
The difference is composed as follows:-
Salaries
Increases already sanctioned $2,880. Increases as per agreements. $600.
Increases recommended by me for length of service, of which details are given $2,920.
